Why You Shouldn’t Read Forbes

Because rather than look at ways that men and women can achieve equality in the workplace and in the home, they go and publish this: Why You Shouldn’t Marry A Career Woman.

First, any man that reads their infuriating headlines and biased factoids (note how many of the stats quoted also apply in the reverse) and doesn’t immediately think that this is incredibly insulting to both women and men should just go die. We don’t need any more people like you on the planet.

Second, any man that believes any of this crap is clearly a cry baby, lacking a spine, and is probably in need of serious psychotherapy. Stay away, ladies!

Third, any man that wants a woman who has no personal ambitions, who will spend all day catering to and cleaning and cooking for a man, and who will rear the children without the man’s involvement needs to invent a time machine and travel back a few hundred years!

Forbes, you’re all a bunch of fuckheads for even thinking of posting this crap.

P.S.: If you’re a woman that believes any of this stuff, snap out of it — it’s freakin’ 2006 already! Sheesh!

UPDATE (8/24/06): If you click on the above link, you’ll find that Forbes has pulled their original story and is redirecting readers to a new article, Careers and Marriage! I strongly suggest reading Rebecca Traister’s Salon.com article as a follow up.

SxSW podcasts!

Sure, this comes a little late, but better late than never, right?

The good folks at the SxSW Festival have finally posted the podcasts for the panels that I was a part of. The following links will take you straight to the MP3s:

Job Postings

Looking for Web standards work? There’s plenty of it out there, if you know where to look!

Steve Ganz has information about an expert-level JavaScript position at PayPal. Having heard the details of the job first hand, I’d call it a principal architecture job — pretty darn important, and requiring top-notch skills.

My good friends at mediabarn have several contract positions in the Washington, D.C. metro area for front-end developers skilled in semantic XHTML markup, CSS driven layout (including 3-column layouts), and advanced knowledge of the DOM. The project starts soon, so get in touch with them today!

Thank you, Eric
